Bill ’71 and Bonnie Wortman

Generations of Runnin’ Rebel athletes, scholars and fans can thank Bill and Bonnie Wortman for helping them get their Reb on. For decades, the Wortmans supported UNLV, the Rebel Athletics Fund, and athletic scholarships. A 1971 graduate of UNLV’s College of Business, Bill was named Alumni of the Year in 1986, and has served on the College of Business Executive Advisory Board, and the UNLV Foundation Board of Trustees.

Bill began his career as an accountant before joining Caesars Palace as controller in 1978. He was promoted to president and COO of Caesars Tahoe. In 1984, he purchased a majority equity position in the Fallon Nugget Casino and the Bonanza Inn Hotel & Casino, and later purchased an equity position in the Nevada Palace Hotel & Casino. In 1997 Bill co-founded Millennium Management Group (MMG) with fellow Rebels fan and former UNLV classmate Bill Paulos.

The Wortmans value community involvement. In addition to UNLV, they have supported organizations including HELP of Southern Nevada, Opportunity Village, Crime Stoppers of Southern Nevada, and the American Diabetes Association.
