The UNLV Foundation Annual Dinner - Celebrating the sprit of philanthropy

Nevada Surplus Lines Foundation (NSLF)

The Nevada Surplus Lines Foundation (NSLF) was founded in May 2019 and funded by the Nevada Surplus Lines Association (NSLA).  As a separate non-profit entity, NSLF provides charitable donations towards educational programs to support achievement and skill development within the insurance industry.

The goal of the NSLF is to perpetuate employment opportunities in the business community, with emphasis on the insurance and risk management industries. Their $5 million gift to UNLV in Spring 2023 will fulfill this goal through the creation of the Kerestesi Center for Insurance and Risk Management.

Tom Kerestesi is past chairman of the NSLF and NSLA, where he served as a director for 26 years. He joined his father, Frank, at Nevada’s oldest insurance agency, Cragin & Pike, in 1974; his son, Scott, is now CEO. The gift from NSLF recognizes the multi-generational leadership of the Kerestesi family in the insurance and risk management industry.

Housed at Lee Business School, the new Kerestesi Center will help UNLV build a qualified and diverse pipeline of insurance professionals in Nevada through education, research, and experiential learning.
