The Lee Family
The Lee Family—Theodore, Doris, Greg, Dana and Ernest—is committed to integrity, community, and philanthropy. Hard work, honesty and generosity define their giving. Today the family business owns real estate and the Eureka Casinos in Las Vegas and Mesquite.
Over the years, Lee Family members served as Trustees of the UNLV Foundation, and on the boards of the Las Vegas Visitors and Convention Authority, the Las Vegas Philharmonic, the Problem Gambling Center, the Meadows School, Nevada Ballet Theatre, the Las Vegas Art Museum and Communities in Schools.
Ted and Doris moved to Las Vegas in 1971. Ted grew up in Stockton, California. He was educated at Harvard College, served in the U.S. Army, and attended law school and earned an MBA at the University of California, Berkeley. This led to a fellowship at the National University of Singapore where he became a member of the law faculty. Raised in Oakland, California, Doris attended U.C. Berkeley, Lingnan University in China, and Stanford University. She held a senior management position in National Dollar Stores, a company founded by her father in 1928. Doris passed away in 2018 at age 98; Ted passed away in 2021 at age 88.
The Lee family has been supportive of education. Ted and Doris established the first endowed professorship in law at UNLV’s Boyd School of Law, and in 2011, the Lee Family made one of the largest gifts in college history to transform the College of Business, now the Lee Business School. Their gift made possible the naming of the Lee School of Business, scholarships, and professorships.
“Education has always been important to our family,” said Ted. “We see the potential for UNLV to be at the forefront of educating business leaders for Nevada and the nation.”
