The Lincy Foundation

Kirk Kerkorian’s entrepreneurial genius not only shaped the hotel resort industry in Las Vegas, but it also improved the quality of life for thousands of individuals throughout the world. In 1989, Kirk founded The Lincy Foundation, which has made charitable contributions to many organizations within Southern Nevada, across the country, and around the world, including UNLV.

In 2008, The Lincy Foundation donated $5 million to furnish and equip a new clinical skills lab for medical and nursing students and to support an initiative to better coordinate higher education health sciences programs across the state. A contribution that benefitted students at UNLV, among other schools, this generous gift was instrumental in producing highly-qualified nurses and doctors more effectively and efficiently—alleviating the state-wide shortage of health professionals.

One year later, in 2009, The Lincy Foundation announced a gift of $14 million to establish The Lincy Institute at UNLV. This generous and landmark contribution was the foundation upon which The Lincy Institute, UNLV, and non-profit partners in the community set a new standard for integrated problem solving by allowing regional organizations to more effectively address large-scale challenges in the areas of education, health care, social systems and public policy—issues critical to building a diverse, sustainable economy and improving quality of life in the Intermountain West.

In 2009, The Lincy Foundation was honored as a Diamond member of the Palladium Society, or a donor who has contributed a cumulative of $10 million or more to UNLV.
