The Lincy Foundation
Established in 1989, The Lincy Foundation was a primary philanthropic vehicle of Mr. Kirk Kerkorian. By 2008, The Lincy Foundation had invested more than $700 million in humanitarian efforts both in Armenia and the United States; Mr. Kerkorian had been listed as one of Business Week’s 50 Most Generous Philanthropists.
Helping families reach their full potential was one of the cornerstones of The Lincy Foundation. The organization was an ardent supporter of many Southern Nevada nonprofit organizations, and focused its efforts on humanitarian support that will improve life in the community.
In August 2008, The Lincy Foundation donated $3.2 million to furnish and equip a new clinical skills lab for medical and nursing students, which supported an initiative to better coordinate higher education health sciences programs across the state. Additionally, the foundation contributed another $1.8 million in support of the operations of the University of Nevada’s Health Sciences System. Their contributions benefitted students at UNLV, Nevada State College, and the University of Nevada, Reno, and was instrumental in helping Nevada’s System of Higher Education produce highly qualified doctors and nurses more effectively and efficiently, thus helping to alleviate the state-wide shortage of health professionals.
Mr. Kerkorian passed away in 2015.
